While on the subject of oils, has anyone herad of/used QMI Small Engine Treatment? http://www.qmimo.com/products/1.-QMI...Treatment.html
It claims it has PTFE Resins in it that coat moving parts and make them more slippy.
Would you use it in engine and or Transmission, I know not primary.
Thanks.
TC
I am probably the only one, but I have been running Prolong in all my vehicles for years. It is the one oil treatment that really makes a difference for me. I run it with dino oil in my Harley's, and they run quieter and cooler. My old Iron Head Sporty use to tick from the heat when I would shut it down after a hard run. When I started using Prolong 15 years ago, it has never done it since. Runs much smoother with more power. My 99 Dodge van has had Prolong since new, and it has 120,000 on it. Still runs like new. I do know most don't recomend running anything but oil though.
In the 70's and 80's, we use to use Marvel Mystery oil in our airplanes, cars, trucks, motorcycles......back then the oils didn't have any detergents or additives.
Today is a different story though....I only use an oil additive once the engine is on its last leg and I am trying put the rebuild off until later. This excludes the airplane engine though...
If you are wondering about an additive, take it and shake it up really, really well. Then pour it into a glass jar, let it set for a couple of days. If you have solids settling to the bottom of the jar, I wouldn't use it in an engine with roller bearings. Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

Way back in the 70`s and `80s?
Detergent motor oil has been available since the early `30s.
Multigrade oils have been around at least 50 years.

You guys only have one oar in the water! I'll save you the trip to a possible embarrassment at the truck stop. http://www.prolongpills.com/
Do you put these pills straight into your engine or premix them and let them disolve?
