Default fuel problems

97 heritage was only driven 300 miles in the last 3 years but started up and ran OK(added seafoam). Last weekend gas was pouring out of carb so I toggled the shut off valve while driving home . Got home pulled the bowl and cleaned the float valve and problem solved. Drove all week but yesterday same problem. This time I pull the carb and figure I better drain the tank . Pulled petcock but gas filter wouldnt come all the way out (about1/2 way), but wasn't real dirty. Put everything back together and wont start. Going to check to see if I'm getting gas this morning. Anything I might have overlooked on the shut off valve? No leaks but Maybe its not primed?

Let bike sit over night and fired right up. Small leak out of petcock threads so locke like I'll need to redrain tank and reapply thread sealant . Must have been a vacuum leak in petcock

Did your bike sit in the sun at any time during the last few days? If the vent into the tank or in the filler cap is blocked and the gas got warmed up and expanded it will have looked for the easiest way out! May be worth checking that as well.

Sat in the sun the 1st time it happened but was in the garage the second time. I'll check just to be sure. Pretty sure it was old gas
