Default Forwards on a FLST

I posted this over in the softail forum and got no help at all. I know the rule against double posting, but I am hoping some folks over here can help since this is dealing with a 1998 model (loosely). MODS, delete the post in the softail forum if this is a problem. I am currently building a bike based very loosely on a 1998 Heritage. I will be putting hard bags and a Lindy bar on the bike. I am 6'4" and not much into floorboards. I have had both a FXST with stock forwards and a FLHT with boards. I just don't like how boards feel to me. I have a Klock Werks extended front fender that goes pretty low. My question is this: Will forward controls (both regular and 2" extended) interfere with the engine guard and/or front fender? If normal forwards will not interfere but extended will, I will use normal ones and put highway pegs on the Lindy bar. Thanks!!!!

I traded out my boards on a 2005 Fatboy because I never could get comfortable with them. Never found an engine guard that would work with the forwards. I wouldnt think they would give you any problem as far as the fender goes, but that is a guestimate.

What caused the problem with the engine guard? I am wondering if some of the Lindy bars may work due to the shape. I am wanting forwards, but I like the engine guards also.

No I believe the problem was that the engine guard was supposed to bolt into the same spot on the frame. There may very well be someone that makes one that uses a different way though. Been several years ago since I was doing that. Since you are doing a build you could probably modify them some way. Heck Lindby MIGHT make some that will fit. I was looking at the HD stuff when I did mine.
