Shift rod leak

Default Shift rod leak
Got a leak on my 1990 FXR where the shift rod comes out of the primary- mid controls-what could be causing it (shifter seal maybe) and how do I fix it?

Never had mid controls but I guess it is just a simple seal to press out and replace. A shop manual should show it and I assume it would be easy to replace.
