Default Believe I'm benched for the year!

Got everything back together, had to buy a set of pipes and brackets. PO cut the flanges off. Now carb is back to acting up. Gotta put my hand over the throat to choke it. The RPMs keep changing when I get it cranked up. First time 500 I turned it up to 1000, second time 1200 dropped it to 1000. When I cut it off carb is almost too hot to touch. Still adjusting the clutch, wont go in gear and chatters bad when I try. Tranny is dumping oil out of the cable at the crimp. And now I have oil running out of the lower drive chain hole. Battery is not big enough for the bike (10ah @200 cca) I am offically out of money to pour into this until probably around October. Thanks for all your help guys y'all are the best.

No way man, you live in North Carolina. Even if it does take till October to get her on the road, you still have more riding season left than the Canadians have all freakin' year. It ain't nuttin' but money man.

Well, shoot. I think you're tired. Take a break for a little bit, have a few beers and look at it again in a few days.

Nah, I'm ok right now. Just pulled the primary cover to remove a clutch plate and bottom had about a pound of metal shavings in it. Starter clutch is eating the ring gear up again. Took a plate out and adjusted have clutch but is pulling with lever pulled in. So I am backing the springs 1/2 turn at a time. If I pull in the clutch when starting the starter clutch grinds like hell. Sounds like it's coming apart. Think I need to switch over to the correct clutch and starter shaft.

Ok done now. Backed the clutch off one more time and went to crank it. While it was rolling over it jumped into 1st and I pulled in the clutch, before it quit rotating it tore the ring gear up. Starter just spins and grinds. Looks like I will be going to the 88 style primary guts now.

That hot carby and unstable idle sounds like its over-advanced mate. It also sounds like you got too much tranny oil in there....costs nothing to dump oil ;-)

Filled the tranny til it touched the stick. The leak is between the metal collar and the cable. Looks like some one tried to put a wrench on the collar instead of the nut-end. Probably screwed up the crimp.

Anyone out there have or know someone with a used L84-89 Clutch basket assembly? I posted for one on WTB section. None on E-bay or Craigslist. Hoping to pick one up cheap. New one is $450-up. Thanks.

I _might_ have some clutch plates at minimum acceptable used spec, minus the one plate I used with my new plates. Your welcome to what I have (if I can find it) for the price of shipping, provided you don't come up with a complete set somewhere.

I finally got hold of my old semi-retired indy. He's gonna check this weekend for what he has in storage. He's pretty sure he has an inner and outer hub. Will let you know on the plates thanks, alot.
