slow jet good main ?

Question slow jet good main ?

ok here goes. i have rebuilt and cleaned carb. been working on this for awhile. finaly got slow jet good but still have a flat spot in carb. i have a stock 80in with big sucker air cleaner,and long shots with baffles. and a aftermarket spring in carb, and to shims on stock neddle.i have a 45 slow jet and 175 main jet and i am at 7000 altuide. plugs look good now they were showing rich with a 46 and lean with 44. it is a stock cv carb to. just want to pick your minds i like all what is out here the good the bad the ugly thanks ALLEN

What RPM range is the flat spot at?

it is from about 2500 to 2800 once it gets to about 28 3000 it comes alive.

Looks like the needle is too low, affecting transition from slow jet to needle.

Thanks guys that was my thinking too. If I put stock spring back in do u think it would help. Or should I just shim the needle up a little more Thanks again

I prefer the stock spring.

A lot of guys swear by the sporty needle from an 88 sporty. Part number 27094-88. You should just google that needle and you will see what I mean. I have one of those needles that I never really used after getting Dale Sanders to modify my carb. They are only maybe 13 bucks at the dealer.

Yea I do hear a lot of people swear on needle. Will check it out I got a 99 fatboy same color your bike look good Thanks again for input

Put the stock spring back in it and raise the needle. If you swap over to the sporty needle you might need to rejet it. The sporty needle is rich compared to stock.
