Donny Peterson's books
Some of you I am sure have read Donny's column in "American Iron" magazine or perhaps have dealt with his shop "Heavy Duty Cycles. What you may not know is he is the author of three fine reference books on Harley Davidsons with nine more to follow. Many of the charts and sidebars in his column come out of his books. I purchased them recently and they are a nice reference source.
The first book in the series of Donny's Unauthorized Technical Guide is Volume 1The Twin Cam, Volume 2 is Performancing The Twin cam, and the third is The Evolution: 1984 to 2000. They are full of list of part numbers, measurements, clearances, adjustments, etc. They also explain function of components, trouble shooting trivia and performance tips. All and all they would make a fine addition to any serious Harley mechanic/owner. Hope this helps

Actually the TC books have a lot of useful engine info. Yes some of it is TC specific, but the performance stuff is the same no matter what engine you have. Stuff like formula's for connection rod ratios, how it affects the engine's power band and how they affect engine wear and longevity. There is a lot of info that is available in other books, but here they are all compiled stuff like turbo charging and nitrous are covered also. They will give the average do-it-yourselfer more than a basic understanding of the inner workings of the V-Twin engine. I get no commission on the sales of these books, I just want to see some of the members here a chance to improve their knowledge.
