Classic Evolution?
OH man, notlost that enclosed chain is great,my 84 fxrt had one.Had to adjust it once in 45,000 miles just changed the oil in it, same time as the motor.Even with the enclosed chain, if it broke-master link an gone.Bought a 86 fxrt then discovered it had a belt,48,000 miles later it broke, tow 100 miles to shop put on an emergency belt, that lasted 250 it broke, 600$ later 2 wks and goin again.Put a new chain on and the enclosier, and dont worry about gravel, mud, dirt or anything.Use a thin bead of silicone where it bolts to the tranny an it wont even mark its spot.
I like to think my 1992 FXDBD is one. HD only made it for one year and it's a limited run (1700 were made). As far as dealersnot working on older Evos, that's fine. F@#@ them anyway. If all you do is hook up the bike to a pcto read error codes, you ain't a "mechanic", you're a "tech" and there's a difference. A mechanic can tune a carb, a tech looks fora fuel injector to remap.
Evos were some of the best motors the factory ever built. If they weren't, all the custom builders wouldn't still be using them.

All EVOs are classic now. I would not have anything else.
That is very true.... Ya got me there.. What i should have said is they were still installing evo motors in some of the 99 bikes
(mine has one its a 99 Softailstandard) so they were not fazed out till 2000I love my evo.. the local dealer here treats me like i own a dinosaur.... i have owned 5 evos one being a sportster and have had little or no problems... someday there might be an
twin cam in life but i just dont see it for now.

got a 84 FSXT. Most places have stuff for 86 + The 84/84 got left out. "Gee, that's old. Don't know if I can get parts for it." But I still love the old b****. I can find parts (go figure).
