Ok Evo dudes , as we all know already nobody knows how to make fit like the evo guys. I'm looking to replace my new , thats right new Mustang 2 up seat with a solo seat. Anyone with some experience with the newer seats from the flh's, how they would fit on our FLH's and if the newer twincam model seats still have the cross bar at the nose for connecting? I know the rear end would probably need to be modified for attaching, or not could be simple single bolt down onto fender.
The solo mustang seats I see all seem to have studs that are listed for my yr which I'm not keen on. I've also heard great things about the Sundowner. Thoughts guys, options?
They newer seats do not have the crossbar, what I've done , even tho it isn't a single seat, is used a 06 cvo seat and simply cut off the part of the tongue and if fits perfectly under the tank tongue, looks good too !
I know you are asking about the solo seats, but I have used 2-up Mustang, Corbin and stock HD seats. But the Sundowner is in it's own class... I love em! They may not be the best lookin but in my opinion, they are the most comfortable seat I've ever owned. At my age, comfort trumps looks anyday (as long as we're talkin about seats)..
My .02 cents.

A friend of mine has a newer police solo seat on his '93. It looks pretty good. I'll ask how it's mounted.
I am going to cut my stock seat down to a solo and recover. We'll see how it goes.
The 94-96 Road King seat should fit without mods. The 97 and later will work, but the tang on the seat needs to be removed and a bar needs to be adapted to fit the tang thats on our tank. 08 and later can work, cause I have an 09 seat on mine, but they dont fit very well.
Thanks guys for the responses, I'm really leaning toward the Sundowner seat although if the Mustang didn't have them darn studs I'd also be looking there. Do all seats come with metal bottoms or is it only the Mustangs? It would be real easy to drill and rivot a cross holddown bar on a metal bottom.
