I'm just using a Dakota speedo in a chrome cup with the rear wheel sending unit...

Ok, my tank has been changed to a one piece, so that explains why the old speedo is not there. I would assume there is no such thing as a speedo cable with a 90* end on it? My trans does not have provisions for the sender. Is the Dakota digital my only option? Thanks for the replies

It ALL depends on how much you want (have) to spend and whether you want it stock, customized, etc. Good luck, whatever you decide !!

I like a working speedo and odometer, okay?! So I would update it because of checking mpg and when I'm gonna run outta fuel and the like.
Do you have some pics u can add? I see your avatar and if that is your bike there ain't too much stock from the rear fender and your tank.
This may not be as easy as we may have hoped...

That ain't a 1998 FXSTC!
Stretched fatboy rear fender
FL front end
40? Spoke front and rear
Passing lamps w/ aftermarket turn signals
Side plate
Apes
Etc....
No sending unit, drive unit, in your pix and no cable
Your bike is waaaayyyyyy cooler than a a stocker anyway.

Its titled as an '88 FXSTC, not a '98. Thanks for the info and the compliment
I know the bike has been changed up quite a bit (obviously), but I dont know enough about it to figure out whats what. It has a front wheel drive unit there for the speedo, just no cable. I think I will look into the Dakota digital since I dont want to change the tank to get the speedo cable there.

Any other ideas? Is it possible to get the speedo cable up to the dash with a one piece tank? If not, is there any type of aftermarket sender that I can use for the gauge I have? I see Dakota makes a front wheel cable to electrictronic adapter, but not sure if there is one for the HD speedo? Thanks.
