Default 98 FXD Speedo Replacement

can anyone help my mind sort this out please. i need to swap from mph to kmh with a US domestic model bike.... part no 67177-95C is the obselete replacement and i can't find one anywhere .... I have trawled thru "ronnies parts find" for the years 95-98 and this number (67177-95c) seems to be the common thing in each fiche... but.... cos i can't find one anywhere in the world i am thinking to maybe use part 67018-95B .. cept I can't find one of those either..grrrrrrrrr... but did find a speedo 67018-95A ..these are both kmh speedos variants for canada/japan... the part (67018-95B) number is listed for 95 and 96 then is gone from the 97 and 98 fiches...

so now my brain is hurting and i'm trying to think why, apart from mph v kmh, is the 95-98 fxd listed with speedo variances for what seems to be the same bike from country to country?...and would a canada/japan kmh from 95 speedo work on a domestic model 98 fxd ?.....and why on earth did HD stop making the things...

Cool

The one reason I can think of why there are different speedos for some countries is that overall gearing is different in some. As an example my 1990 UK bike had a rear wheel pulley with 61T, but US models had 70T. Now that doesn't affect the speedo on those earlier bikes, because they are front wheel driven, but for trans driven speedos that may be the case.

However, how's this?! A Swedish dealer appears to have one. Email them in English, many Swede's speak it very well. If they really have one they may be happy to send it to you. I don't imagine shipping will cost any more than from the USA.

I don't think they are an official Harley dealer, they are not in the latest HOG Europe book. If they have it in stock, I suspect they will be happy to sell it! There is also a Dutch dealer I have just remembered, JW Boon, it will be worth looking through their website. I have bought stuff from them a few times and they speak/write English.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained! If you keep your message simple and use an online translator, you can send them English and Swedish in the same message, to show willing!

Thumbs up

Best of luck! I recently chased down a pair of genuine tank decals after a very lengthy online search. Parts like the ones we both want are long out of stock, so we have to be persistent and not look at the price......

Remarkable! I'm only about 50 miles from Battersea, bought my first Harley new from Fred Warr, just across the Thames! What a small World (despite my earlier comment!).
