Default Headlight

Been all over the internet looking for a halogen or led upgrade for my 94 FLSTC headlight and passing lamps. Not really wanting to go with a nacelle kit to do that. And I cant find anything to do this, any ideas or suggestions...

I don't think LED technology is there yet to just swap out the H4 bulb. There is a LED headlight that will work. It replaces the whole headlamp bulb housing thing. Last I looked at one (a year or so ago now) it was expensive. Like six bills expensive. I recently experimented with a H4 LED bulb, bought on eBay from China. It was supposed to be 20 watts. My measurements showed it to be under 5 watts actual power usage. It was not near as bright as a standard 55/60W H4 bulb from the auto parts store. Also, there was no Hi/Lo beam. You got the same light output regardless of which terminal had voltage on it.

Anyway, if you find a LED bulb that works and isn't $500, let us all know.

There should be many 7" H-4 conversion lamp units that will fit your bike. I've been running one in my bike ever since I burned out the first headlamp about 15 years ago.

Here's a link to a review thread for the Truck Lite 7" LED, they're awesome!

That looks interesting, Rich, and the two bills plus price is a lot better than the six bills price. So, driving at night, how does the light pattern look? Is the high beam as good as the regular high beam? Low beam as good? Or are they at least about the same, light wise, as your last headlight?

the TruckLite LED is freakin fantastic. I have the phase7 (i think thats what they call it). low beam only illuminates half the housing (so you could argue that daytime visibility is diminished)...but at night, holy crap. my low beam throws light 200yards down the street, high beam's about the same, except a more focused beam.

I also have their LED passing lamps. once the snow we're getting tonight melts, i'll try to snap a couple of pictures

you wont be disappointed with the TL's

It's outstanding driving at night. I do a lot of high speed desert riding at night and prior to having the LED, I was always very concerned about hitting re-caps & coyotes, deer, cougars, etc. These Truck-Lites cast light from curb to curb across a 6-lane highway. The low beam IMO is similar in brightness to a standard headlamp, just a little brighter and a lot whiter. But it spreads the beam clear across the road. The high beam is insane, it looks like a search light. I thoroughly love the Phase 7 LED. I'll be buying one for my Sporty soon as well. As soon as I recover $$$ from it's makeover I'm just finishing.

During the daylight hours I run the high beam. You can literally see me coming from well over a mile away.

All my riding buds have one now as well. In fact, anybody that rides with me at night has to have one after seeing me light up the road. They're a pretty incredible headlamp. I'll always have one now.

Hope that helps.

Yes, that's a Fat Boy headlamp I installed on my springer. All the part numbers and ordering information is on the first post of this thread:https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softai...ing-lamps.html

That looks real interesting, Rich. Why does it say:

Recommended Accessories:
96630 H4 to H13 adapter

It just plugs in to the regular socket, right? I see they have the spotlights available as well in a set for $410.
