Default Another Non EVO ??

Just another question I should ask elsewhere but I don't get answers over there.
I was asked a couple of questions today I could not answer in regards to a stock 103" Fat Boy off the factory floor.

Horsepower?
Top Speed this guys can get to?

I know this is trivial but I figure someone here can answer.

Thanks

Horsepower figures are not quoted by H-D but rumored to be in the mid-60's.

Top speed is around 115MPH

HP number is lower than I imagined. Whats holding that number down? EPA restrictions?

Doing some research for my brother in laws 103 in a SG, bolt in cams in the 555 lift range, Mastertune with exhaust wakes up real quick around the 95-100 hp range. Got to say they have their ***** cut off from the factory, the cat exhaust seems like it weighs 200 lbs and restricted so going to say Uncle Sam has the scissors nippin on the *******

Yup, it might be 72HP but you would need to Dyno a stocker to be sure and not many people bother with that.

I bulit a 100HP 103, doesn't take much to open them up :-)

Having owned Harleys since the 70s their performance has always been modest, though easily improved. So yes, EPA does have an affect, but as ever it is easy to liberate more performance!

So all that extra size of engine, twin Camms and weight not to mention heat they're no better than An Evo engine at the end of the day then, cos I thought they're good for around 115mph, what about 0 - 60mph ?

No idea about 0-60 on a stocker. The figures have stayed much the same over the years as EPA bites, they have to keep upping the capacity in order to produce sufficient torque to be a Harley.

Stock cams are designed to be quiet and not produce emissions....that is pretty much their primary purpose......the bikes need a stage 1 as soon as they leave the showroom.

Maybe producing Harleys in India is so they can avoid all this EPA crap, at least for us non Americans, could have picked the UK though seeing as the founders all originally came from here.
