Default Evo Hugely Underpowered?

Went to see a.1997 FXSTC today with the intent of a possible purchase. Looked mint apart frm a small dent

However it felt massively underpowered. Maybe only had power up till 2-3000 rpm then nothing. Couldnt get past abt 40 mph.

Any ideas on what this may be? One point to note is that its been sat (with oil and fuel in) for 8 years

Thanks

Carbs full of varnish. Starving at full throttle.

Ah so if its just that then should be an easy enough fix.....

I certainly hope its that and nothing major as apart frm that I really like her and hope this purchase happens

Not sure what else could be the cause apart frm that

Thanks

Gota be the main jet plugged up, as my.evo fxtc can break the ton fairly easy.

Clean the carb-new gas and plugs and hang on for the ride

That's all well and good, but use it to your advantage when dickering over price.

Yep. Also figure you're going to need tires and hoses, pretty much anything rubber. I'd bet the intake mani gasket looks like cheesecloth. GL with it, sounds like a find.
