im sure this has been covered at some point, but I need some options. I have a 99 heritage and I went to start her up today and the starter will not engage, now this starter is a year old last starter same problem. I've been told that this is commen problem. So im looking for a better solution, better or different starter whatever gets me down the road without changing starters every year.
Exactly what is the problem?
There is almost no good reason to replace a starter. If you think the second starter has the same problem, you most likely are misdiagnosing the problem.
My starter problem is similar on my Ultra....turn on the ignition and hit the starter button. The starter does not engage....sometimes it might click sound, but still will not start. So, I have to use the direct starter button on the starter itself.
Once the bike has been started and warmed up.....then the starter button on the handlebar works. Any ideas here too......

Again the first thing to check is the voltage at the green wire on your starter when the handle bar button is pushed.
