Go to an auto parts store and get some starting fluid (in a spray can).

In Aussie its probably called "Start ya bastard!" same as in NZ but a squirt of petrol will do just as well.

With the air cleaner off you can open and shut the throttle and see if the accelerator pump is squirting a jet of gas down the carby throat....if it isn't then you either got no gas getting to the carby or the pump is adjusted wrong.

Will be a pig to start if the accelerator pump isn't working.

Just put yer reefer out when squirting things down the carby man ;-)

Classic! So, I literally just pour a bit of petrol into the manifold? Got the teardrop cover off, when I twist throttle, the butterfly things opens. Do I pour it down there, or just into the manifold?
Cheers mate!

I would spray it in. Get a plastic spray bottle.
I would think it would flood it if you pour.

Thanks mate,
Think I just flooded it! Got some petrol coming out of pipes....it sparked, farted and tried to start....it was backfiring a bit when I had it running, so it prob could be the petcock.....will rest it for an hour, then spray bottle. Do I spray the air cleaner, or just inside the manifold to pro toe a spark?
Cheers

Take off the air cleaner, twist the throttle to open the butterfly, then spray (set spray bottle to mist) and hit the start button at the same time.

THC,
Man...I would not do it that way.
Spray, then get clear of the carb with your body parts and that spray bottle of gas, then hit the start button.

Mate, I have the same set up, I never twist the throttle before I start it, I only open the enricher and the start it. Never leave the enricher on just set the throttle and close the enricher. Let the bike warm up. Also, check your plugs it sounds like they are fouled. If they are black and moist they are fuel fouled. You will foul your plugs if you leave it on. I had to change my jets to a smaller size to stop bike from running real rich.

Good Luck,
Joe

Thanks mate,
Got it booked in with a bloke that is going to do cam, head work, powder coat the frame, all new electrics, wide glide front, new bars, wheels etc. it will cost me my new bike savings, but I think it will be a mean motor scooter and a keeper after all that....thanks for the help guys, will put a photo album up of before and after when it's done. It will be about 3 months, as Im getting it at a good price, and he is doing what he can, when he can....it's minus 4c here this morning with a blanket of fog. So, no worries that Dyna won't be here in winter! Ride safe boys,
Cheers
