No, I'll pull them tomorrow. I replaced them early this season as well.

Dump some SeaFoam in it and let it work. You have gummed up low speed needles and until they get clean it is going to run like ***.

Did you pull the aircleaner and make sure nothing filled it with birdseed? A few years ago I found an aircleaner full of seeds on my bike in the spring. Apparently some small woodland creature thought it was a good place to keep his nuts dry...

I had the air cleaner off a week ago when I installed the grips. Good call, but it looked unseeded or moused.

What the hell kind of grips are those? I've NEVER had to pull the aircleaner to install grips before...

I ran up to AutoZone this morning and picked up a can of Sea Foam. I have a full tank of gas in the bike, so I used about 1/3 or so of the can. Sloshed it around, ran the bike for several minutes. Now I'll let it sit for a spell and run it late today.

It's acting the same however, rough idle, popping now and then around the carb, rev it to 3000 rpm and she chokes out.

I'm going to pull the plugs and see how they look.

Ok, here's what I found....

Pulled the plugs, and they were very fouled. When I replaced the plugs that were in it this spring, those plugs looked like they have very normal wear, no fouling. I kept them as spares, so I put those plugs in and started the bike. The bike ran much better for a few minutes, then, same symptoms. Backfiring out of the carb, engine looses power if you push it over 3000 rpm.

Ok, took the air cleaner off, fired it back up and shot carb cleaner into it. Seemed again to smooth out. Could actually get it to rev fine over 3000 rpm for a few throttle twists, then I'd turn the throttle from idle, it would hesitate, backfire out of the carb and when I'd hit 3000 rpm, it would want to die.

Seriously, when I adjusted the throttle cables after I put on the new grips, could I have done something wrong?
