need help removing cb from 1990 flhtcu

Default need help removing cb from 1990 flhtcu

Well not as easy as that. I want to remove the cb under the tourpak and the dash unit. BUT I want to use the stock radio/cassette for the rest of the riding season. When I disconnect the 2 pin connector from the cb at the 3 fuse panel I lose sound even from the front speakers. Anybody work around this issue.

Mines a 90 also but need much more info. to help you .
Is the cb a factory unit etc. etc.

Default need some help machinehd

yes it is the factory setup. My cb does not power up and the rear amplifier which is in the display does not work either. Have you been able to work around this.

Checked the system on my manual and its a big system with factory pin/din connectors to all.
If i understand you correctly , you want to loose the cb system and keep the factory am/fm/cass.?
If this is the case i strongly suggest you loose the entire system and install a up to date unit . If your tunes are all on tape , have your kid or someone elses kid transfer them to todays technology and install a modern unit into the bike.
Ya. i know , its a big hairy changeover but i did it at 55 and so can you.
For tech. help to install and wire the new system , see me .

yes I think the system is designed to all work together. So changing it out entirely seems to be the simplest solution. Thanks for the help! Rick

As an old car stereo installer of many years i have to add one more thing...
In my opinion only... installing a common stereo in a motorcycle has to be the nuttiest thing i have ever seen in the stereo world.
After all is spent and all is done you are essentially producing very distorted tunes to everyone else around you but not to you because you have a helmet on .
My advise is again to access your kids experience and purchase a set of ear buds to fit inside your helmet with a pocket sized player of your choise .
Times have changed .

I have a '90 that had a functional CB When I purchased it. I removed all of it by separating the plugs and my stereo works perfect. No issues at all.

Default For the gunslinger

I unplugged all the connectors I could find one at a time with the radio on and it still works. It is all off except for the cb antenna splitter down by the 3 fuse panel. I need to keep that until I install the fairing antenna. Thanks for all your help, Rick
