compression
I apologize in advance for the thread jack.
So John, just be clear, if I'm not milling the heads at all (just not in the budget) there should be no problem running a .030 hg, correct? What would squish clearance be w/ a virgin head and .030 hg's , best guess?

You have to bolt the cylinders down with a spacer and measure the distance the piston is down or above the top of the cylinder. Then add or subtract that from .030"-.035" and get a gasket as close to that as possible. Normally a .030" will worl, but you really should check.

Another reason to check the deck height.
When the machine shop bores the cylinders, they may take a cut on the bottom and top of the jugs to true up the gasket surfaces before bolting on the torque plates.
This will alter the deck height and squish.
As long as the piston does not go above zero deck height, your safe to use .030 gaskets, base gasket thickness obviously alters the deck height too.

Neither the heads or cylinders will be getting any mill work on my build. Only change from stock would be the .030 hg's. I will check piston height to be sure, but I don't think it will be a problem. Thanks for the replies.
Again, apologies for the thread jack.

I put a 85 evo motor together with a 560 lift Andrews cam and 10to1 je pistons little work to the heads port and polish heads were milled 40thousands how well will this motor work haven't put it in the bike yet .oh and I used 0.62 head gaskets .any info on my concasion would be welcomed .

Second you might want to start a new thread as you will get more people looking at what you are doing or asking that way.
