so I have my motor at the machine shop and need to order some bearings. Its an 86 FLHTC. Cases are split and machinist says all looks good but I want to go ahead and replace all the bearings and crank pin in the bottom. He said someone was in there before and used the wrong (thrust) washer on the flywheel side. He said I need a .060 washer for that. where do I find that specific size. next is the pinion bearing. I cannot find anything but oversize and he says I dont need anything oversize. Does anyone know the oem part number or where I can find the oem pinion bearing. All other bearings are easy enough to find. I know some will say its his job to find the parts ect... but this is how they operate. The shop come highly recommended. Thanks

Yes , I buy most of my parts from Ronnies. Kinda weird they only have o.s.

 

.060 is the standard size the .070 is the oversize - he measured the original and that is the correct number .060 -- its called a flywheel washer or flywheel thrust washer they come in steel and brass - the brass is more forgiving and does not send steel sand into the engine bearings - what material does he want --- johnjzjz

 

Thats the one. He recommended the brass . I think I found the pinion bearing number . Does 24650-58 sound right to anyone?

 

The pinion bearing for your 86 big twin is a loose roller type the the std part OEM number is 9220 and it takes 28 of them, they always come as a set of rollers - the number i dont know what it is, BUT harley has changed lots of older numbers like that one you posted over the years -- the washer OEM number is 6506 std size - johnjzjz

 

that number I found is a kit from eastern motorcycle parts. Its the rollers and the cage.

 

forgot about them, the number system they employ is sometines back in the dark ages - and sure you can use that kit as long as it has the STD rollers /// unless the cages are damaged you dont need them or the thrust washer BUT you will need a new retaining clip dont forget that, i cant remember the number ---johnjzjz
