Default AVC question

Anyone know where the radio pics up the auto volume control signal from? There is nothing in the speedo. Nothing else makes sense. I looked at the schematic, and I don't see anything relating to the AVC. My AVC used to work even though the speedo wasn't, then it just stopped all together.

There's a reed switch above where the speedo cable connects, it just snaps in, white/green wire.

Ah yes, thanks Shex. It looked like a fuse, sorta, but not really, just didn't put 2 and 2 together. My problem is the part the cable screws onto popped out of the speedo. I'm waiting on a FLH panel to arrive, hopefully that speedo is the same. It's off a police special, so ....???? Should be the same though.

It's also used as a counter for the self canceling turn signal module on '89-'95, I'd think it should be there, or at least have the place for it, and use your old reed switch.

It's there, it looks a little cooked, but it's there. I'm sure it will work fine with a different speedo, even if the speedo don't work. I understand it now. Why it worked when the speedo did not, that was puzzling me. But as long as the cable is spinniing that wheel, and it is aligned properly, it will work.
