what's the argument against adjustable pushrods? also, just because they're not making noise, doesn't mean the bearings aren't ready to go out on the rollers in the lifters. So why not go with the cheap insurance of changing them since it is a known defect (just like the INA cam bearings)?

You will have to wait a week for a response because Spanners has been given a "time out".

[IMGLINK][QUOTE=D_gyver;12647166]theres a lot of reason to use adjustable push rods. if you just put a cam in it and it has the same lobe center as stock you don't need them.
here are the reasons you need them
1 .030 or .040 head gasket
2 milled heads
3 S&S HL2T kit installed
4 aftermarket rockers
5 a valve job that sets the valves deeper in the pocket
6 a cam with a larger lobe center
lifters have .200 of travel and you want to be right in the middle of that so if you do any of the above stock pushrods wont work
[/QUOTE

Setting lifters deep in the bore isn't going to cause catastrophic failure, Woods cams are set .150 in the bore by the top engine builders to tame the clatter and personally have been running a W6H at .150 for 5 years with no roller rockers and is not babied.

Will still stand by adjustables because of ease of cam changes but not everyone gets bored with the same stuff like I do.

all I run is wood cams just my preference.
ive never had lifter noises with the W6H with stock lifters.
now my new build is a W9 and I used S&S lifters with HL2T kits
still no noises out of the lifters.

IMHO adjustable push rods are used in cam swaps to save money by not having to remove rockers. So no need for rocker gasket change along with pulling everything else off. As for swapping lifters, harley lifters a reasonably priced cheap insurance much like cam bearing swap.

Don't you set the HL2T backwards off the bottom or still shoot for .100 as a base?

yes and no the hl2t kit set bottom at .100. then you adjust up .033 its done this way to keep oil flow. when you set a lifter preload below .030 it can no longer pull in oil so it has trouble keeping prime and that's when you start damaging your valve train starting with the lifter springs then the rockers and when the rocker seize there goes the cam lobes.

does this happen to everyone NO. but it happened to me once and that was enough for me so now im kinda **** about it now.
