Default Cam bearing question

Hello fellas,

I recently got a 1993 heritage softail which was sitting in a barn for a while. 13k original miles and in nice shape after the dust is cleaned off. It started up with a new battery and had the classic jug leaks so I decided to pull the motor and put all new gaskets in to freshen it up. Also got the EV 27 cam to put in. My question is, with this low miles should I replace the oem cam bearing - is this one of the years they were junk? Also, I went to JP cycles in Anamosa (I live close) and they don't have Torrington anymore - the tech said they stopped making them, so when I got the andrews cam I picked up the cam bearing they had anyway, koyo I believe. Anyway, should I bother changing it out?

Get rid of the stock 'INA' bearing and replace it with the Torrington equivalent. (Twice as many rollers in the Torrington.)

I'm not sure what year they changed the bearing. 93 might be right around there. Some google-fu of the forum here will turn up some pictures of what the two bearings look like. See which one you have when you pull it apart and if it's the new one, replace it. "They Say" that a high lift/performance cam greatly adds to destruction of the new Ina bearing, but the "Torrington" style bearing can take it.

You bought the bearing already and should replace it. It only adds a few minutes to the cam change and it's right there. Here's the Koyo B-138 next to the original INA for reference for you

Thanks! Having never seen the INA bearings I was wondering why they were considered inferior.

Since you are gonna be there anyway I would replace the cam bearing no matter what.
Just a little bit of insurance IMO.

You should also take the cam gear off the stock cam and put it on the EV27.
