Default New issue. Never ends...

Went for a nice ride today, feels like it's running great I advanced the timing two lines, not sure what that equates to in degrees, but it's running great. No more backfire on decel with that and the carb jetted better. I'm still grinding into third unless I shift at really low rpms and I still vibrate at 2000, but that's lugging it so screw it. I can live with the 3rd gear grind for now until someone has a good solution.

However this is the problem. At idle I hear a strange jingling sound coming from the right side. I can't describe it sounds like loose keys or something. Or thin metal like an exhaust shield. I touched everything on the side and nothing was rattling. I think it's internal. Any ideas what it could be?? I'm sick of problems just want to ride. I noticed this before jetting and advance, it wasn't doing it every time it idled. Now it's consistent.

That called pinging. Your timing is advanced too far for idle condition. What kind of gas are you using?

. It's not pinging. Was doing it before. I know what pinging sounds like.

Agreed. Get it timed by someone who knows what they are doing before you destroy it.

If you live close to Reading there is a good coffee spot that has a lot of wrenches that can do a quick diagnosis. Mostly friendly folks there

Why are you riding at 2k RPM? You should be running at around 2500RPM. Another thing you can do to help the 3rd gear false neutral is to shorten up the shift link rod, which helped with mine immensely. It still does it but not as bad... probably need to shorten it up one more turn.

If you have a stupid chrome oil filter adapter cover check that. Mine came loose one time and it sounded like change rattling around. Can you get a video of the sound?
