remove the clutch cable cover on the right side of the trans -
TOB - throw out bearing can and does make jingle noizes when its falling apart
BEARINGS -- the stay bearing in the trans cable cover attachment plate - when bad makes jingle noizes - pull on it ( vise grip on the bearing nut ) see if they move in and out if so they are shot - THIS is also the possable cause of the 3rd gear issue ( if the main shaft is floating around than any number of things can make noize and not ingage correctly )
engine timing is an exact adjustment an off hand guess is going to un do the engine in any number of ways - stop complaining if your not going to do this as it is to be done
