The way I understand it you can't bump-start a vehicle that has electronic ignition if the battery is dead.

You've got to have some juice in the battery for it to work.

Usually you just have a low battery...not dead. You cant' "bump" start any Harley that doesn't have a generator or magneto, with a completely dead battery...alternators have to have field excitation voltage to have any output. EFI bikes can be bump started with a battery too low to operate the starter...seen it done.

As previously stated the only thing that prevents you from bump starting a vehicle with electronic ignition is a dead battery.
