I have two manuals and one is saying to put the brake washer on the inside of the brake pad and the other is saying on the outside. Which one is right. I am talking about the chrome washer that goes on the front brake for 84-99 softail as shown in the top part of the picture

 

that's wrong the washer goes between the bracket and fork leg

 

2 bolts on the caliper the one has a shoulder and it is stand alone

the other is a regular ( size guess ) 2 1/2 inch and the thick washer goes under the head as a support

what is in the picture is incorrect
