I have a 97 flhtcui.


I'm looking in the manual about "vehicle alignment"


Is the front of the swing arm not mounted to the frame???


Because apparently adjusting the front stabilizer link can move the front of swing arm sideways.


Can someone explain this to me, or even better provide a pic or drawing I don't see one in the manual.

nope...it is mounted to the transmission...adjusting the stabilizer link moves both the motor and trans.

Yep.....if you ever had/have your front stabilizer lose....go look at your rear wheel alignment. You may see it skewed to one side or the other. The bottom stabilizer moves the entire drive-train left-to-right and the top stabilizer "twist" the drive train...more-or-less. The drive-train is a part of the entire bike alignment system. If you ever want to make a real difference in how the bike handles and happen to have the swing-arm out....install some Sta-Bo bushings and dump those cleaveblocks. You'd be amazed at how the bike will handle. They use to make a brace (race brace) that bolted to the tranny and the back of the nose cone. That bracket will also make it ride like a totally different bike. You will pik-up a bit more vibration, but if you mountain-ride and like the curves...you can take the sponginess out of the bike by doing either of these. The cleaveblocks suck in terms of contributing to the mushy feeling in the bike.
