Default Nasty paint bubble

I was washing the bike and noticed a nasty looking paint bubble near the tank fill opening. I don’t have a pic, but I think folks know what it would look like. It covers about a 1.5 square in area.

Bought the used 5.2 gal tanks on ebay. They came painted with HD Vivid Black, and look decent for what I paid for them. Certainly not perfect, but they look great otherwise.

No doubt they will need to be repainted, but I am looking for a way to adhere the paint back down to get me though the next few months.

Anyone have any ideas? The paint is thick enough (7 coats), and I can easily squirt something in there and press it down. I am thinking that epoxy would work, since I don’t think it would harm the paint.

Funny, my first thought was that this kinda sucks, but a split second after that I am thinking about what color I want to paint the bike next winter....

"Super Glue"-the water-thin type should stick the paint down. You need something thin that will wick under the edge of the raised paint.

Great idea Uncle G., the super glue worked well. I picked up some of the gel type super glue and was able to squirt it under the paint. The paint is thick and flexible enough that I could lift up the edge with a dental pick and get the point about 3/4" from the edge.

It turns out that the paint was lifting around half of the opening, with the worst spot being about 1" out from cap. It came a so well I would consider this a permanent fix...providing there are no other issues with it.

As a precaution I put a light coating around the edge of the entire opening.
