I've owned Gold Wings and harleys at the same time. I'm sure your mufflers are not stock. I can't hear my 08's engine when other bikes are around. I need to step up a notch in sound.

The quietest slipons I have ever heard were put on the 07 SE Ultra Classic. I thought that these were SE Touring mufflers with a heat shield. I have heard the SE touring mufflers on a Street Glide and they were much louder than these. I put them on my SG and they perform very nicely, better than stock. They arevery quiet. When riding with another bike, I can't hear my bike. They sound nice but quiet. The only place they seem loud is in my garage where most mufflers would hurt my ears. You'll never get Goldwing quiet but these are quiet in the Harley sense. I'm replacing them with Rineharts because I do like the sound. I hope this helps. Doug

It is not uncomon to have stock exhaust that were drilled/chiseled out. which quite possibly is what you have. I suggest you ride over to your local HD dealer and try to get a sales man to start a stock exhaust bike up or listen to one that maybe parked outside in stock form (I never met a HD rider that was not willing to startup abike so you couldjust hear the thunder w/ the owner ofhis/her finepiece of american iron). They are very quiet and I like how they sound, an when you rev the engine you almost get a sense of the exhaust trying to be even quieter. Check it out I think your be surprised.

Default looking for a quieter ride

I recently became an owner of a 2007 Sportster XL1200 Low with the "BG3" pipes installed. Although I really like the looks and the sounds of the bike and pipes...I need to keep peace in the neighborhood at 7am when I leave the garage. Does anyone have any knowledge or input on how to quiet the pipes or what new pipes I should put on the bike for a quieter startup in the mornings?

thanks
tony

The only suggestion I can come up with is a SuperTrapp 2-into-1. It comes with stacking baffles and you can as many or as few as you like, to give the sound you want. I have their mufflers on my Dyna and a SuperMeg on my Glide.
