Quiet Pipes
A few weeks ago i'd started looking for a Roadking to replace my Wildstar Chop. I've pretty much found a bike at an HDdealer which i like, low miles for year, late 1999 and only 6k on the clock, with two owners in its entire life, it has a huge accessory list too & is virtually like new.
My prob is this, according to the dealer the bike has had a stage 1 upgrade, but the pipes are very quiet in my opinion, according to the dealer the bike has alsobeen fitted with Howitzer end caps, it sounds fine, just quiet, and not that loud Harley roar i was after. Apparently the last owner wanted an un-obtrusive set up for touring.
Should they be quiet after stage 1 tuning?
Anyone recommend replacement pipes, and i think the bike is efi, so will it have to be remapped?
Hoping the dealer can liven it up a bit as its the only thing stopping me from handing over the cash at the minute.
As ever, thanks in advance for your opinions.
These are known to be just slightly louder than stock, but still very quiet.
Sure , the stage 1 could be dialed right in with these mufflers and run very well.
At the least , you would want to make sure the map was right for whatever pipes you may buy afterwards.
Generally quiet mufflers will flow slightly less than louder mufflers , so louder ones may lean it out some.
Maybe they could sweeten the deal by putting on your choice of mufflers (from them) and giving you the proper map for the combination.
They might want to do this for you depending on how fast they want to turn over their stock.
Good luck
Mick
The bike is lovely, but was kind of disappointed when i heard it running, and now that you mention i tihnk it is touring mufflers that are fitted. Definitely not the sound i need. lol
