I will be picking up my new 06 Electra Glide Classic at the end of January and wanted some advise on exhaust. First I plan on having the Screaming Eagle AC and download done at the time I pick up the bike; however, because I'm undecided on which SE slip-on's I want, I plan on running the stock mufflers until I decide. I have been told by two dealers that this will be okay. Actually, one indicated that since I don't want load pipes I might just want to keep the stock pipes on because there isn't much difference between the SE touring pipes (not the pro pipes) and stock. Also indicated that it would help throttle response, provide a little more torque but not additional hp. Any input would be appreciated.
THAT IS GOOD ADVISE. I WOULD GO WITH THE TOURING MUFFLERS OR 1 PIECE SLIP ONS. BOTH ARE QUIETER THAN THE SE PIPES THAT REQUIRE SEPARATE END CAPS. NOISE COMES WITH PERFORMANCE. NOW IF MONEY IS NO PROBLEM GO WITH A RACE TUNER AND A FULL RINEHART EXHAUST WITH QUIET BAFFLES.
I have Sceamin Eagles Performace Mufflers on my 03. Also had the stage 1 air cleaner and ECM calibration. These mufflers are louder than the touring mufflers. I was told the touring mufflers were not much louder than stock . I like the sound of mine but there are a lot of good sounding pipes to choose from. I have been told 06 models have some issues when changing pipes. I think its been talked about in here also. You might want to check them out. Enjoy your new ride.
I had the SE Slipons and didn't think they were all that loud when cruising. I mean I could cruise at 80mph and still listen to my passenger/radio with no problems. Only loud when you get on it and even then it sounds great.
