Default Carburetor Cough

What’s the problem when your carburetor coughs, as you release the throttle to take a turn and then give it some gas half way throught the turn?

Sounds like it has a cold...

Really, it sounds lean and probably is, what mods do you have, any?

Give some more info and maybe we can help you out here.

You could richen it up some without any mods at all and make it run better.

I'm running an S&S Super E Carb on a 97 Heritage Springer FLSTS, I'll check the carb, maybe I am running to lean. Thanks for your reply.

What intermediate jet and main are your using?? Do your tuning with the accel pump turned off, and dont forget that you will have to split the difference with low and and top end with a S&S. Most times you end up with a great running bottom end and a flat spot in the mid range or the other way around. Most time the flat spot occurs inthe cruise range so owners tend to have them a bit rich in the low end to stop the stumble ot flat spot as the carbs gets into transition from low to high speed. There are a few ways to make the carb perform better, De Vincie kit or a thunder jet with a external air bleed. The carb only has two curcuits so you are spliting the rpm range of the engine in two where as the cv has 3 which allows for better tuning.
