Default Faulty Valve guide seals

I don't post much....read mostly, but was wondering if anybody has heard about the 05 valve guide seals being faulty & causing some oil burning? It just came to my attention this weekend & I will call my dealer this week about it. Supposedly they are not saying it is a "recall" but acknowledge the problem. I have an 05 Road King Custom...................Thanks in advance for any information. I will post later what I find out from my dealer!

My bike is in right now, just had the seals replaced under warranty. I have a 05 Deluxe. Look on your bike tag ID sticker, if it was built early it has the old seals. Mine was built in 10-04. I think after 1/2 of the year they used the proper seals. Check your plugs. Mine were a little wet, especially the rear one but my bike ran fine. I learned of the faulty seals here on this site. My dealer was great about replacing them. Good luck.

Appreciate the info here, didn't get to call dealer yesterday, maybe today. It doesn't burn any oil , haven't looked at the rear plug yet either[:@], I really wasn't too concerned with this issue because I haven't had any of the known symptons, but on the other hand I would just as soon get it looked at/serviced before it becomes an issue! Thanks again!

The "faulty" seals were used throughout '05 and into '06.

I was going through 1 quart of oil every 1200-1400 miles on my 05 RK Custom. When I asked the dealer about it last fall, they gave me a copy of the tech sheet and said that it was "normal". When I continued to ask them about it before X-Mas, they offered to do the valve guide seals under warranty and offered free pick-up and delivery. (Things are slow in Wisconsin Harley shops during the winter). They also offered to do the 95" big bore at the same time for cost of parts -20% and 1 hour labor since the motor would already be apart. So, the big bore work was less than $500. Just got it back and can't wait till it warms up!

What Cams did you put in on the 95" set? I have the SE 203's and the Torque fine for a Big Tourer!

I also used the 203's. Too soon to tell as I am still in the break in stage.
