Default 08 Dyna performance help?

OK, I have an 08 Dyna Superglide with a Ness Big Sucker, older SEII slipons ('99 w/stock baffles) and a PCIII preprogrammed by Fuel Moto. On the highway after a nice rollon I feel like I'm being left behind a little when riding with my buddies. I thought I would be right with 'em if not pulling a little harder vs their bikes which are an 04 Low Rider with VH Longshots, an 05 Softail Springer with true duals w/fishtails and an 08 Heritage w/VH Big radius 2-2. Seemed like I am closest to the 08 Heritage (all bikes I believe just have the Stage 1 upgrade).

Don't get me wrong my bike pulls plenty hard, and runs well but I thought I would be pulling away from the older bikes and the heavier Softails with the new 96". Could it be a crappy canned map, different gearing with the new 6 speed as opposed to the old 5 speed? I don't go easy when we blast around the highway but I don't rev the crap out of it either. Did I get a dog, or is my set up just not up to snuff?

The bike has 5000 miles and has been well maintained. The bike has not been tuned professionally or on a dyno yet. Any input is greatly appreciated.

It's the gearing on the newer bikes.

when my bike was stock, my buddy with a stock '06 dyna (88 inch) was just as fast as my 96 inch, sometimes faster if he got the jump. try cruising in 5th on the freeway...

A SERT with a custom map would probably help a bit. without seeing a A/f ratio on a dyno its hard to speculate what you need to do to make it better.

I used to run the same set up with the fuel moto map. To be honest it wasn't the greatest map. Try the Powercamander canned maps M814-007 for the S/E slip on mufflers or the M814-010 for Rush slip ons. You may find that just changing maps will make a big difference. It did for me.

Thanks JLB, I'll give it a shot. The map details just say "custom map by fuel moto", I guess it gets me in the ballpark but how custom could it be when it's pre-programmed and just slapped on my bike, or they just took the PC maps and renamed them. I'll have to dig into the different tables and compare the numbers to see if the differ.
I will get the bike tuned when I can decide on what new pipes I'm gonna run, thinking thunderheader or take the cheap way and get some BCT baffles.

Your buddy on the old bike if it is a older dyna his over all drive ratio is 3.37. Yours is 2.79 . Plus it does not matter if it is a sert our a pc3 with a good tune you bike will rock and it helps if you have better gearing. Leave it in 5th gear then try to race him and dont be afraid to rev those rpm to 5 grand. But also they are not race bikes they are Harleys lol.
