Default Engine Build Help

Engine is apart do to cam bearing failure. '06 Streetglide with standard BB & 203's. Looking to upgrade to gear drive and maybe have some headwork done.

Riding style: over 12,000 miles a year, half that 2-up, 4000 miles pulling a Timeout camper.
I find myself in the 2500-4000 RPM range alot.

Just starting to research but looking at maybe an Andrews 37G over the S&S 510.
Not sure where to start to find someone for headwork....

Any opinion on cam selection or place for headwork is greatly appreciated!

Looking for something reliable thats not to radical.

Thanks,
Scott

Default Towing Power

We are big advocates of Bob Wood grinds, but in this case, perhaps an Andrews 26, combined with a good set of heads* would be a better combination, in order to pull the trailer set-up.

I have a bagger with mild head work(decked to 83cc's and mild port work) and 26G's and do about the same type riding sans a trailer and about 15,000 a year. It works very well.

You think the 26's would be better suited for me rather than the 37's?
Any comments on what I should do to the heads?

Thanks

Default Power

The immediate power delivery of the 26's to get the machine moving, and would also be in the sweet spot of the torque curve constantly.
Do not look for a large hp number, but down where you would be calling on the engine to work for you, it'll be great.
Our Stage II Heads would be fantastic for this application.

Your best bang for the buck, especially pulling a trailer 4K per year, would be the very simple primary gear change from your stock 3.15:1 to the 3.37:1 that HD used on the touring EFI bikes from '99-'01. There are numerous threads on this change which involves changing the compensator sprocket and clutch sprocket--about $450 list price for the parts from HD. It's very similar to the gearing change HD made to the '09's compared to the '07-'08 touring bikes, though HD did this with a sprocket change on the '09's.
