Default Velocity Stack...
So, ya, I'll probably get laughed off the forums for this, but, I don't really get what a velocity stack is. How do they differ from, say, a HyperCharger?

I don't think you would want a velocity stack on your bike for all around driving. They're mainly used for drag racing under controlled conditions.
Riding down a dusty road would be hard on your engine!

My K&N air cleaner has a velocity stack built in, so do many of the others... although they are 'smaller' versions so the fit inside the air cleaner.
