Default Python 3 baffel question.....blockage plate??

Hey guys. I ride a FLHRCI and I have Python 3 slipons. I just started noticing a sound in the left side baffel like it was loose or something. Decided to pull the baffel out and noticed that the baffel was blocked off. Some kind of cylinder plate in there. Is it suppose to be blocked off?? I can barely see a crack of light through it. If its suppose to be blocked.........why??

What does the other pipe look like? Some mufflers have a maze-like design where you won't see any light through it. That design helps reduce reversion. Can you blow air through it? Check the torque on the screw that holds it in (if there is one). If there isn't, then maybe something inside broke loose, in which case I'd return them if they are new or under warranty. Also, the left pipe will never flow as much exhaust as the right. That's just the way the head pipes and crossover are designed. That's not a problem, though.

The right baffel is completely open. I assume the left baffel is suppose to be blocked somewhat. There is no way for that "plate" to come out due to the tappered ends of the baffel. I guess it has something to do with the crossover. Exhaust still blows through it but maybe at 20% of the right one. Everything sounds good and she runs great, but I thought it was strange to look down the pipe and see the baffel blocked.

It sounds like that's the way it's supposed to be, I guess. Have you tried calling the manufacturer and asking them? You may have a defective baffle. It's worth a shot, because if it's defective, then you could be losing some power.

Actually... after some more thought (ouch, that hurts!) I have another question.....

Are the mufflers labeled as left and right? If they are not, then it's very possible that you got a damaged or incorrectly assembled muffler, since they should both be the same. Call the Python people and ask them.

Have a new baffle now. Both baffles were suppose to have the block off plate. MC shop were scratching their heads wondering why the right didnt have it. Oh well all better now. And I cant really tell a difference in power or sound. Thanks for your help.
