Default SE Kompressor Heads?

If a set of these could be bought at a good price, would it be a cost effective upgrade for an '04 TC - to be used in a conservative 95" build with 9.25 pistons and Andrews 26 cams? I'm assuming that the Kompressors are built on '06 or newer heads? The alternatives would be to do a street port job on my '04 heads or find some '06 or newer heads and work with those. This work will be done around a Hyd. cam chain tensioner upgrade. Any good advice will be appreciated.

You would be money ahead to have your stock heads reworked and get better performance if they head worked was matched to your planned cams.

I have read several times that the Kompressor heads are just 06 style heads decked to 72cc which if true would be too much for andrews 26's. The hd site says they produce 10.5 to 1 with original pistons so that would rule out conservative.

Agree with mtclassic but I am not sure of the size of the chambers on the compressor heads; maybe closer to 76cc but not certain of that. That's the first thing you need to find out before even considering a purchase. If they do run about 76cc, there are cams that will work well in that configuration, like the Woods 6, S&S570.

As mtclassic says, better to pick cam and have your heads configured for the cam rather than let the heads dictate the cam; don't let the tail wag the dog.

yes it might have been 76cc instead of 72cc. either way too much compression for 26's. I have mine set at 83cc with 26's and am at an actual 9.5 to 1 with .030 head gasket and 0 deck. I agree a woods 6 with the kompressor heads would be a good match.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a line on some newer heads, so I'll have those street-ported and stick with the 26s.

If the build is truly "conservative" and the heads or '06 or later (except '09s, they are different), save the money you would spend on porting and install the heads with a .030" head gasket. Use stock pushrods and save some more. A respectable increase in performance for not a lot of money. With 226* duration and .490" lift, you won't see a huge difference with ported heads and those cams.
