Leaky
Well you have a EVO and you are pumping engine oil into the primary correct. The seal rides on a spacer you can flip it around to ride in a new spot or replace the spacer cost on a spacer is approx 18 dollars.
Thanks , I have never had it apart . A local shop did the seal for me and 3 times the leak continues . Also doesn't seem they can get my belt drive back on right . Pretty much done everything else to the bike myself and being an 89 you can imagine there has been a lot . I think I will try them one more time and see what happens , if not I'll tackle it myself .
Appreciate the info .

well , had the shop try to fix the oil leak one more time to no avail . Finally got around to tearing it down myself and could nto see any problem with seal . The shaft they told me that was grooved was not . I bought a new shaft spacer and seal , install seal backwards because of the belt drive ( was told to do that ) .Put a sealer around outside of seal when installed . looked for any hair line cracks on the case also and didn't see any .Belt drive does not have a tensioner , possible to much tension on crankshaft causing leak ? Slap her back together start it up and remove outer primary . Look inside stator / case are and there is oil puddling in the bottom of the inner primary under crank / stator . I have checked my screen filter on block , rerouted my breather ( maybe restircted ) . Hell I'm at a loss now any suggestions would be great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have the 2 little screws that hold the stator wire to the engine case intact and sealed? They are a direct hole right into the engine and need to be sealed. Oil will transfer through there if they are not there or not sealed.
Also, doesn't that case fall in the range of leaky inserts. There is a procedure to check that the oil isn't actually coming out between the aluminum case and the insert pressed into it (the one the crank passes through). That was a common to see back then.
