Petcock.. Bad or just my poor understanding?
The vacuum actuation is a safety feature for gravity feed systems. If you bypass it or do away with it, you should get in the habit of shutting the gas off when you're finished riding for the day. If not, an improperly seated needle valve can cause the cylinders and crankcase to completely flood with gasoline. I've seen it happen before (on more than one occasion), it is not all that uncommon. That's why they started putting vacuum actuators on fuel petcocks.
But, I'll revisit this and look to plug it.
Thanks
I have since discovered a hole in the diaphragm the vacuum petcock.
( I had to take it all apart and stretch it a whole bunch, but I saw a hole )
So I bought this stuff called Seal-All (gas/oil resistant GOOP) and made a new seal on top of the old rubber. put it all together. and works like a charm.
I'm not sure what the lifespan of Seal-All is. I may have to send the company an email.
But I also plan to get a high flow petcock, I felt a chug after accelerating for quite a while, and around a corner and stuff. but nothing major, and definitely no stalling!

Shoot, I got so paranoid about if I shut my gas off that I would go back and double check! Now I wonder if I even have to worry about it that much...
I absolutely hate vaccuum petcocks! Had one fail on a Kawasaki at 80 mph, blew gas all over me and bike, left me stranded 9 miles from a town.I replaced it with a non- vac unit from older Kaw, never had an issue.
My 01" Harley vac petcock took far too long to get fuel when going to reserve, it almost got me killed on the highway. It takes 5-7 seconds to get enough fuel into carb at 70 mph, way too long in the middle of a pass with a 5 ton truck barrelling down the other way. Stock vac petcock can deliver 22-23oz per minute, not near enough when you need 4 ozs right now! I replaced mine with an EMS unit that flows 88 oz/minute, now reserve is almost instant! If you have modified your engine, it is almost a must to assure enough fuel at WOT too. The EMS supplied enough fuel to run my 95" Supercharged (140hp) to 160 mph!
You do have to teach yourself to turn the petcock off, but any squirrel should remember that, right hehe. FWIW Fastrider124

Don't do that. Run 1 vacuum line from your carburetor to your VOES switch. Just Lose the T connection under tanks that go to petcock. VOES still gets its vacuum and you get direct fuel flow.JUST DONT FORGET TO TURN GAS OFF. don't be "that Guy".
