My 1987 FLHS after winter storage wants to run but isn't getting fuel. It has new gas and has always been bulletproof (I bought it new).
I can pump the throttle six or seven times and get a spray of gas going and she'll fire right up as always, but then she just dies. It's definitely a fuel issue. Don't know what's wrong. Maybe it's finally time for a CV carb rebuild. The '87 carb had the butterfly valve.
Starting from the tank:
1) Pull the fuel line at the petcock, check flow.
2) Pull the fuel line from carb, check flow.
3) If those are ok, you may have clogged jets.
4) I agree, go to a CV carb. You'll like the difference.

My 1987 FLHS after winter storage wants to run but isn't getting fuel. Any thoughts??
Since it's the 24th of August, and you're just taking your bike out of winter storage, I think it's time to move further south.

You didn't happen to put some sort of fuel stabilizer in the tank before you put the bike up? Sta-Bil? The last time I used Sta-Bil, my bike did the same thing as yours. Started up, but would not stay running. Had to get the bike towed from the storage facility. The carb needed to be cleaned. Shop told me it looked like Jello had set up inside the bowl.
If you're thinking CV carb, good time as any to slap one one.
