Default STAGE 1 FLASH ISSUES

here's the scene....

yesterday I had a Stage 1 download on my 07 Street Glide.... 234 miles... now has 340 miles,, SE filter and SE slip on's

I really don't feel much difference, if any at all, maybe a tad betteroff idle and up to 2500 rpm but it weezes up top and lacks power up top....

real problem, the pipes are now bright blue from the head all the way down to the tranny area, in fact it runs so hot now parts of the heat shields are even turning gold..... the engine heat is tremendous, my oil temp went up about 30* as well as high as 266*... if i'm cruising at 75 and roll on the power all the way it gets to about 80-82 and flattens out, if I roll back on the throttle about 15% or so, it starts accelerating again, but kinda sluggish... I changed all the oils to Amsoil and all it did was cool the oil down about 12* or so...

it ran a LOT better with the factory flash and the same mod's..

WTF happened?? this makes NO sense..

The HD flash is a waste of $150.....it does nothing at all to make it worth it.

You are much better off getting a SERT or PCIIIusb and tuning it that way.

Hi Jim,

Please read the posted thread. Learn all you can about EFI and do look into a SERT. If you want a quick and easy cure a DFO may be the way to go for you.

Hope this helps.

thanx for the reply's so far......

I just knew I should have left it alone, it was running GREAT before... but I figgered i'd keep it all HD stuff for a year or so....

this thing is dangerous riding two up right now... it will NOT handle a headwind now...

little background.... I am in the fuel injection business and have been for 25 years www.dpii.com... tinkering about 10 more years before that... I am intimately familiar with laptop stuff, as i've been writing race car programs for years, I know my way around a PCIII very well..... I was just trying to stay with HD for the initial warranty period, and keep the closed loop operation, but it appears that was a really dumb move.... I'll try and have the dealer reflash the stock program back in it, and then buy a TwinTec or PC111, dealer doesn't *think* that can be done, once you write over the original map your toast ???

Well two things. You can reflash the stock map! I have pretty much the same setup and mine is running like crap too. I can not find any body down here that knows how to work with this stuff. Oddly enough it only took me an hour reading the manual to figure out how to adjust the tables. Good god this stuff ain't rocket science.
