Default Removing handlebar control cables

I can't figure out how to get the old cables out of my rusted handlebars.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Remove the roller and pin from the plunger, that ride in the slot.

Pull the entire plunger and throttle/advance wire out of the end of the handle bar.

Loosen the nut and release the wire

If the roller and pin will not come out, I once had to drill a hole on the opposite side of the handle bar and send a drift pin up into the plunger to push them out. The plunger already has a hole in it, just need to add one in the bars. This is an IF and will be completed concealed after re-assembly. Take a look at a parts manual to better understand all the different bits. Good luck.

I hope that makes sense.

the white dot on the bar picture should be a screw to hold the outer cable drum from moving and needs to be removed to pull the outer cable out

Yeh I feel the same way sometimes, but the internet is still our friend. Better then writing letters and sending them snail mail. Carry on.
