Default Vin Wla

hello to all, I`m new in this forum. I'm from germany and I have a 1964 Duoglide and a 2013 Fatboy. I'm riding Harley since 30 years.

Now I`m lookimg for a wla. I have a good offer in the netherlands. The bike is fine, runing good and all original. But whith the vin I have a problem. Tje vin is 44WL 4913. I know it's not the right one. But the production no is 43-18458. What do you mean? How possible is it, that the vin is restamped? Then seller mean, that 70% all of wla vin after the war were restampt. The bike is a 1944.

Can somebody support me

Thank a lot

Welcome to the forum. The serial number (SN) is too high to be authentic. SNs for the 44WL and 44G (Servi-Car) began at 1000 and they were mixed together because the engines are in the same family. I don’t know for certain how high the SNs went but I doubt they reached 1300. Several things could have happened. Can you post a photo of the SN please, provided the seller says it’s okay to do so.

Photos of both production numbers may also help.
Eric
