Default Pinion oil modification

I’ve got the UL lower end almost ready to go together and I’m trying to decide whether to do the pinion mod to get some additional oil to the rods and pistons.
I’ve got the Calle High Performance scavenge and feed pump I’m going to try.
I’m not totally sure how to do it but I believe you either elongate the feed hole on the crank pinion or the bushing.
I’d love to hear some opinions on whether to do it and the preferred method of doing it.

Flat heads do not need any more oil to the lower unit - it is hear at 75 plus years old and still ticking

Chech the pushrod followers for wear and the pins if they are good no more then .002 - then cut spirals bottom to the top into the pins counterclockwise

then drill directly behind the lifter pins a single hole 1/32 drill at a slight upward angle into the block toward the flywheels

this will spray an oil / air mist directly up to the valve springs - valve guides - and valve stems - think on that idea

the oil pump idea is a waste of money and a new motor - extra oil will be the same as running in water up to you knees instead of the original system runs in at its ankles - the new pump will play havoc with carb tuning because of the extra oil dragging the engine down when cold

Hi John, I kinda knew where you stood on the CHP oil pumps but I’ve got them so I gotta try them, I’m hoping their scavenge
pump keeps up and doesn’t flood the lower end.
Remember I’m new to building Harley motors.
You did the lifters blocks and lifters for me and the fit is very nice.
What are the pushrod followers ?

I modified the oil channel from the cam crest to help the scavenging of the CHP pump, I
made a paper template off the oil pump and opened up the case to match the pump.
Carl at CHP suggested doing this to increase scavenging.
