Oil Pump and Sumping
I guess I am just a bit paranoid but now that I have done my cam chain tensioner replacement I am concerned whether I got the oil pump centered right. It seems to run ok just reading all the horror stories has me freaked out a bit. I haven't put but a couple miles on it so when would I know if I am sumping? Does this take a while to build up or is it instantaneous. What do I look for first as far as symptoms.

A common symptom is a loss of horsepower. When the oil pump doesn't pull enough oil out of the bottom end the fly-wheel has to spin in the excess oil. It slows things down and makes it sluggish. If you pull the case plug underneath and you have more than 6oz of oil, it's sumping. 6oz is on the higher side, but generally still considered acceptable. You're probably fine, just paranoid.

I have put a couple hundred miles on it and all seems fine so far. Gonna bet it is good to go. Been all different speeds and short and long hauls with good pull all the way.
