Completed 45
Very nice. Brings back a lot of memories. I had a 1942 "45" back in '56. My spark advance cable was broken, and I just reached down and retarded and advanced by hand. Front brake cable was broken also. Made for lots of fun starting out from a stoplight on a hill. Sold mine for $50.00.
Jim, those were the days, during the same time I sold a running 1940UL for 20.00 and the guy drove it away. LOL 2 years ago I paid a guy in UTAH $3800.00 for a 1940 ULH motor in a box. IT needs a rebuild I hope to get it done this winter.
Paullavery: Nice job, you'll have a ball riding it. Here is, (hopefully) a pic of my 1948 WL. Funny story, I finished this bike in March 1999. I wanted an old looking color combo so I used the colors off a cabinet in my home when I was a kid, I'm 72, so that was a while ago. In 2002, David Uhl, Artist for The Motor Company painted a pic called "The Enthusiast" using the same colors on a 49 Flattie. I bought the painting and David told me he just picked the colors from his pallette as his model bike was black. I met David and he wrote some kind words on the back of my painting about the coincidence. One more thing, if you ever need to rebuild the 45 motor, check out www.americancyclefab.com, Paul Friebus builds the best flatties period. ACF holds the speed records for the fastest flathead, a 1937 and is now working on a 45 in a converted servicar frame. I think his best time so far is in excess of 100mph. Be sure to check out the Bonneville videos on the ACF website. Flatties Rule! Enjoy your ride.
Sweeet bike, watched the video . . . show off
1 kick & even the horn works, nice.
I have a '47 survivor myself, love them flatheads.
So tell me, from the pics I can't make it out. What is that deal -ee-oo. . . on the right hand side of the fork, just below the headlite & just above the horn??? I can't figure it?
