If you click on "new reply" a message window opens. Below that there is a box titled "additional options". In that you can click on manage attachments and follow the instructions and it will add an expandable thumbnail to your post. Otherwise, you can copy and paste a link from the internet (photobucket etc.) to your message.
If you look in the "quick reply" you'll see along the top left side several icons ... one is yellow and looks like mountains with a sun at the top right side ... click on that and the rest should be easy ... Good Luck

And when you use this method your picture doesn't go away it you delete it in your Photobucket account.

The "additional options" and "manage files" method works. I can live with that if I have to. Copying and pasting a link from my photobucket between <img></img> tags does not work.

Negative. The icon is not there.
There are several other vBulletin forums I frequent where the "insert image" button is present and works as advertised, and where I can use the img tags to do what I want.
I'm just wondering why I'm not seeing the "insert image" button anywhere. (and why my img tags don't work.)

So you're saying that at the bottom of your screen when you scroll down, there is no area that says "Quick Reply" with a box to the right of it with a series of icons across the top left of the box?
