I get the second delay message whether I recently did a search or not.

i7 Processor, 16gb ram, Windows 11 23H2, Edge browser.

Edit: Tried Chrome browser and got same result.

 

After updating my preferences and testing, it is not performing as expected. For instance, new 'Showdown' is still not displaying when I select New Posts.

 

New post gives me a 5 second wait. Windows 11 google chrome.

 

No matter which chromium browser I use on a PC I get the 5 second message. iPhone with Brave browser in desktop mode no message.

 

I don't think anything on the Off Topic first page is an option. Need to use drop down menu or one you are following and then hit the path back one to see that to select.

 

so everyone with the issue is using Edge or Chrome based browsers. if you disable the prefetch settings in your browser, the issue will resolve itself.

 

To change your Google Chrome prefetch settings on Android phone, open the Chrome app.

Tap the menu button (three dots), go to "Settings" > "Privacy and security" > "Preload pages", and then select your desired prefetch option.

You can choose to either enable or disable prefetching and sometimes select the level of prefetching depending on your preference.

On my device Samsung Galaxy Ultra S24, it's worded a tad different.

 

Robb, I think you are correct. I attempted to do the same with Firefox and it worked fine. At least that part. I had other issues probably related to the fact I rarely use Firefox. I am reluctant to disable prefetch in Edge thinking it will slow down my activity on all the other sites I visit. Is that a valid concern? Something must have changed on HDForums as this issue is relatively new.

Edit: Disabling 'Preload' in Edge does resolve the issue.

 

I'm having the 5 second issue and can't figure out how to fix it.
I'm using Edge.

 

I fixed Chrome but I prefer to use DDG, and there is no way to "fix" the preloading.
